Looks Like a Yard!

You can see the landscaper heading to his truck from the backyard in this Monday, October 23, 2006 photograph. He was done with the final grading and next is the installation of sprinklers then trees and shrubs will be planted. This late in the season, we're focusing on just the basics. We've planned a play area, patio with dolphin tiles, daylily bed, storage building and eventually a fence for the backyard.

The painters have been at the house all week so we will have pictures of painted walls soon! Our tentative move-in date is December 2.

"Trail" to Garage

As you can see in these Thursday, October 19 photos, the driveway with a turnaround and front sidewalk have been poured. Evan enjoyed following the "trail" (i.e. through the mud) to the garage to get into the house. Our builder poured these on Wednesday afternoon when we had a peak of sun so they are taking longer to dry with the rainy days this week.

Meanwhile, the kitchen cabinets will be finished on Friday, October 20 and the painters will start early next week. For the walls, we chose Sherwin Williams Napery and for the trim, we chose Sherwin Williams Snowbound. You can go to the Sherwin Williams website (in Links on right of Blog) and look up the colors by name to see them.

Hardwood floors are in but need to be finished. Tile in the bathrooms continues to go in including the dolphin wall mural tile in the master bathroom. Linoleum and carpet will go in after the paint dries.

Cabinets Galore

These three photographs from Sunday, October 8, 2006 show the numerous cabinets and shelves in the house. The fireplace has two "photo" shelves, a mantle and nice trim. The cabinets in the kitchen are a wheat color and in this photo you can see where the cooktop is going as well as the hole, which will be bigger, for the wall oven and microwave. And finally in the second bathroom downstairs, you can see the tile floor minus the grout as well as the sink cabinet.

The rest of this week consists of beginning the installation of the hardwood floor on the main floor as well as finishing the kitchen cabinets and trim work.

Trim Beautiful

In these Saturday, September 30 photos, you can see the rough trim going up in the foyer and dining room. The first floor was pretty complete with trim including the floor boards. This first week of October will include choosing paint colors and installing cabinets.

On this same day, we also found a small round, light oak table with a butterfly leaf (folds under the table) to put in the breakfast nook. Luckily, the furniture store is letting us keep it there until we move!

Evan was quite excited because he got to go on a treasure hunt to find the "magic, golden" (actually silver) key that our builder had hidden for us since he placed temporary locks on the doors. So, thanks to him you can see the "trim beautiful."
