In Holding Pattern...

Not much has been done to the house since the last update, hence no pictures this week. An e-mail from our builder said that he is ready to focus on our house beginning Aug. 28. He has been finishing some other houses in different neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, Tim is down to the last few hours of his various wiring projects. While Evan and I have missed him the past few weekends, I'm sure it will pay off in the long run and I know he has saved us lots of money.

Happenings this week should be electrical inspection and the beginning of insulation as well as pouring the garage, patio and porch. Let's hope the weather remains good for what ever is done outside.

The Blue and the Gray

The Victorian silver siding is nearly up but the blue harbor shingles are done. In this rear-view photo, you can see the shingles, siding and gutter. Gutters are almost done too.

Inside, Tim continues to work on his wiring projects, hopefully finishing this week so the insulation process can begin. Meanwhile we have picked out carpet, vinyl, tile and flooring for the upstairs.

The builder says we are about three weeks behind which is putting us close to the end of October, but it is worth the wait and at least we will be in by the holidays!

Find the Doors

We have exterior doors!! Evan loved playing the "let's find how many doors" game on Wednesday, Aug. 9. He counted three doors - front door, French doors in the great room, single door to the patio in the breakfast nook. As seen in these photos, mommy is excited too as me and Evan peak through the front door which is still waiting for the middle glass area. And the patio doors are the coolest - the blinds are in the glass, so no cleaning! You can see in this photo that the blind on the right side is open and the one on the left is closed. This French door leads out to the covered patio and is located in the great room below the half-moon shaped window. The other cool feature about the patio doors is that the control for the blinds are up at the top which is nice when you have little, curious hands.

The second project done this week is the wiring for telephone jacks, cable, Internet, lighting, etc. The professional electrician is finished but Tim continues to work when he can, mainly this weekend, on the wiring for the central vacuum, security system and wall speakers in every room. He loves doing that kind of thing - not surprising since it involves his hands like he does in an operating room every day as a nurse!

All Outdoors

We took a mini-vacation so hence this overdue update. These two photographs were taken last Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006. You can see the Victorian Silver siding and Blue Harbor shingles on the roof. The second picture is a sample of the Classic Blue shudders. We were trying to go with different colors than the rest of the houses in the neighborhood and compliment the brick. The siding compliments the brick well and it goes with the blue shingles and shudders.
