Stairway to "Heaven"

Yeah, we have brick steps leading up to the back patio ("heaven") as seen in this Saturday, September 30 photograph. You can also see the two out of five vinyl posts. Walking around the front, you see the brick against the side of the garage with the classic blue shudders. And Evan and Mommy are enjoying their first time on the front porch near the front door! The front steps were still being built on this fall Saturday morning.

Ditch and Stilts

Well, the sheet rock was finished up in this Monday, September 25 photograph. The person on stilts is working in the breakfast nook and you can see half the dining room as well as the kitchen. Next up is trim work and cabinet installation.

In this second photograph, workers are putting in the power line in the front/side yard which was also done on Monday. Surely it will be nice for the workers to have power/electricity to the house since it is starting to get dark before 8pm.

Meanwhile, we learned that it will probably be close to Thanksgiving now before the house is ready but the long wait is worth it.

"My room has walls!"

As you can see from these Sunday, September 17 photographs, Evan is excited to see that the "pink stuff" (insulation) has been covered up by "walls" (sheet rock). He is peaking out of his closet in this first photograph. And the corner fireplace in the great room is also installed with sheet rock around it. There will be a shelf cut out of the sheet rock above the fireplace. The only rooms left were half the dining room, half of the second bedroom (baby's room) and half the foyer. Sheet rock should be completed on Monday.

Moving outside, the front and back porch concrete was poured on Thursday afternoon (Sept. 14) after all the rain. Decorative vinyl posts and other hardware has been ordered for the porches.

Now moving down the street in Border Creek, as of Sunday, Sept. 17, we counted 42 homes either being built or completed out of 102 lots. Probably about five are sold with one family already moved in the house next to our house.

Cotton Candy Walls

This week of Sept. 10, 2006 you can actually see some more progress with the insulation here, surrounding the can light holes on the second floor level and the "cotton candy" insulation in the great room next to the master bedroom. Actually, only the master bedroom looks like "cotton candy" because it's pink unless there is a such thing as "lemon-flavored" cotton candy.

After a suggestion from a church friend, Tim and I insulated the master bedroom since it is next to the laundry room and great room with wall speakers. It took us three hours to insulate one room and the professionals finished 90 percent of the insulation in one day!

Tim still plans to insulate the interior walls between the second and third bedrooms, mainly so the crying baby does not wake up Evan in the future. The only insulation left is the kind that needs to blown in on the ceiling/roof which should be done on Monday. After that, hopefully by Tuesday, Sept. 12, the sheet rock will be installed. We anticipate on flooring and cabinetry by early next week.

We're Wired

This last week, Aug. 28-Sept. 1, the wiring was completed, including an electrical inspection. Tim finished his several wiring projects of central vacuum, security system, wall/ceiling speakers and computer. And the termite company put tubes in the walls and sprayed for termites. In the future, the termite treatment will be through the tubes as well and not just around the outside of the house.

Photos of progress should be more interesting next week when the insulation and sheet rock work begins. It now looks like we are about a month behind schedule which means the end of October.
